About Us

The Bullbots

The Bullbots is a high school club at Mountain View High School (MVHS). The club was started in 2005 and competed in it's first competition in 2006.

MVHS is located in Meridian, Idaho. Meridian is a short drive from the Idaho state capital, Boise.

We now have students from three different schools in the school district. Because of this we have simply become the Bullbots Robotic Club instead of Mountain View High School Robotics Club. Mountain View High School is now a sponsor for the club. Mountain View is where all our meetings and build take place. We actively encourage all students within our school district to participate in the club. For students outside our school district we encourage those students to join one of or partnering FRC teams in their own school district.

After the 2008 competition season we focused on how we could promote FIRST as well as raise funds for the following season. We ended up holding a robotics camp. This proved to be very successful. We attended a number of community events and promoted our camp and the FLL (FIRST LEGO League). As a result a dozen or more FLL teams were formed in the community. The Bullbots also hosted the first Southwestern Idaho FLL Qualifying Tournament. Approximately 19 teams attended this event

We have mentored two FRC and one FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) teams . Our rookie competition year, we focused on just building the robot for the FRC competition. The second year we added some fundraising along with the robot build. We also had meetings earlier in the year to talk about strategy. Last year and this year we had some of our mentors put together some workshops during the months of October, November and December. We added project management as a role within the team last year to see if we can be more efficient during the build and plan to improve the role this year. It has taken time but we are becoming a real club that will be more than just a six week program. We are striving for more student and community involvement in the Treasure Valley.
