Community Involvement

Our team has made a big effort to be involved in our community by offering various science camps and participating in community events. We also give presentations about the advantages of FIRST Robotics and demonstrate our robots at local schools and businesses. We have found many people have never heard of FIRST Robotics, causing us to spread the knowledge of FIRST even more vigorously!

Pepper Ridge Elementary School Science Night

On Friday night, our team volunteered at Pepper Ridge Elemeentary School for their annual Science Night. We worked in all of the stations to help the children with the activities and in experiencing some of the wonders of science. Even the first station - simply guessing how much of your body is composed of water - excited every one of them. One of the little girls guessed 1000% and was mesmerized by the lesson in percentages we got to give her (many of the parents learned as well). Overall, the night was a ton of fun for absolutely everyone involved, and we're excited to go back soon!

Boise State University's STEM Day

February 2nd, 2013

Throughout the duration of this year's build season, our team has attended an impressive amount of events ranging from high school basket ball games to half time shows for semi-pro basketball teams. Our latest effort to spread the word of FIRST and our team was attending a BSU sponsored Discover Engineering Day. This event was located in an auxilary gym on the BSU campus right next to Taco Bell Arena and Bronco Stadium. We took our robot from last year's competition and gave a demonstration to children and incoming freshman along with information about the team and FIRST programs. Also attending this event were teams 2122 (The Taters) and 4106 (The Bots of Prey). This was a great event that really showed off our ability as a team to not only reach out to the public, but to educate people on the importance of knowing science and engineering.

2013 Kick-Off

January 5th, 2013

7:30, bright and early the morning of Kick-Off the Bullbots met at BSU's Engineering Building.   The team had fun doing some "practice" brainstorming, set up by Build Coach- Dean Klein.  After that, it was time for the big reveal.  What?! Frisbees- and climbing a pyramid?! And we can only be touching how many planes at once?  This is a difficult challenge!  The team returned to RHS, where we spent the afternoon discussing the game, checking the rule book, and brainstorming.  Lots of discussion about what will be "most" important.  Do we want to try to do it all, or specialize in something?  Doesn't every team want to be good at everything?  What did we learn from last year?  You'll just have to check back to see what the team decided, and to track our progress.
