2008 Rockwell Automation Award
This award is given to the team that has the best driving control system. We were given this award at the 2008 Portland regional. We received the award primarily due to our dashboard and that we drove the robot with Xbox controllers. The dashboard was a GUI, written by ourselves in Java, displayed on a Tablet (a laptop). This enabled the driver to get instantaneous feedback from the robot based on the controls being sent to drive it. It showed motor speeds for both wheels on a meter, and what state our code was in for the autonomous part of the competition. That year we had ultrasonic sensors, and the distances that they were detecting was also shown on our dashboard. Over all, we had a pretty unique control system. Our Xbox control drive was original the year before, but many other teams also used Xbox controllers in 2008, thereby making the final decision maker for us winning the award our dashboard.
2007 Website Award
We won the 2007 Northwest regional website award.
March 3, 2007 -- My name is Daniel and I am the webmaster of bullbots.org. When the time came for FIRST to present the website award, we waited expecting to hear another team's number. When the announcer said, "Team 1891", the team was shocked and excited that we won. This is the team's first award. I feel that this website won due to a combination of a good team, my parents, and the mentors. I knew that I liked the website, but was surprised that our website actually won.
I am a freshman at MVHS. I have created some smaller web pages in the past, but this is the first website I have published.
